The war started exactly because Ukraine was cozying up to the west, they were eventually going to get into EU and NATO, which would be unacceptable to Russia. NATO didn't add them in after the conflict started because that'd guarantee a war with Russia. Which they don't want to fight by themselves. Ukraine is essentially their front-line troop while they all supply arms. It doesn't accept neutralitypill because 1) it is a puppet of the CIA and NATO now, who want to keep the war going to deplete Russia and justify more sanctions
2) Zelensky wants to keep his strongman image, making a compromise would not be gr8 for his political career
