Porky 122mm AIMS(mortar), it is guided, Pajeets don't have even standard issue guided mortar rounds, our CMTs are small PP while the Armado mounted ones with somewhat modern targeting systems are too low in procurement. It is over, Pajeets must invest in 140mm AMOS to flex our bigger PP to the Porkies.

Yes, the Armados are already better than theirs tbh but we need guided rounds + deploy them in bigger numbers on rough terrain. Make something like the Finnish AMOS for mechanized units.

Also it is their indigenous development, tho they prolly just begged the Chinese for most hardware and then glued them together.

That is what I meant with "Armado mounted ones" is yaar, it is called VMIMS, some were procured with Alakran 81mm mortars. The rounds are dumb but it does have a digital FCS so that somewhat helps but not enough. We need something any of those wheel APC NEMOS for weak terrain and AMOS for mech units. automated self propelled ones are ideal because they can shoot and move immediately + better accuracy. With ever omnipotent recon the one who can shoot faster and hit the target in the first round will win, while the other gets blown up before they even set it up(these vehicle mounted ones like the Porky and VMIMS need time to set up because they still directly use the ground to dissipate recoil).

They are making a screw on kit to give some guidance to dumb rounds tho. Those just replace the fuze with one embedded with electronics.

That is also how Americans made their lighter mortars guided.

mortars are always useful, close ranged, high angle of attack, very useful in mountains. can be carried by personals etc.
i am not sure at what point towed arty, like some version shown by kalyani are better than mortars like this.

though with drones we may see more flexibility.

>can be carried
Even the 81mm one is a pain for a crew, and forget about a 120mm(Go upto 300kgs) one. They are generally carried in vehicles or on pack animals, deployed on static firebase, only lighter mortars can be carried by personnel. Their benefit is that they're cheap, logistically easier and can provide immediate organic support to infantry instead of having of call up arty.

Arty has longer range, but generally has lower explosive filler for the same calibre in a mortar, because they have thicker walls for they need to survive the higher pressures in the barrel.

That is an unarmoured vehicle yaar, if your mortar is getting hit with direct fire you've already lost the frontline, tho some armour to deal with proximity counter mortar fragments would be useful and the system can be mounted on other platforms too.

Must be quite fast and quiet being an EV, would be nice as an RRV if you mount an autocanon.

Though I'll always prefer hybrids, batteries may cause problems, both on the system itself and the fact that now your logistical tail also includes batteries for this thing.
