Anon, that was not a thing in 90's and I can tell you that from personal experience. Casual sex outside marriage was not a concept that did not exist, but it was limited to point people who did do it were an outlier and basically rejected the concept of marriage all together. That's just life anon, i agree that social media at its core bloated woman and their self esteem as well as standards that they hold. However that is natural progression of life. In the end, again as far as validation go, men are the one who are showering them with it.
