Thanks :D
But really, what happened with hindu art in India? How and why did it develop into this gaudy kitsch that you see everywhere nowdays? I didn't really see that stuff in Nepal so much. They still seem to like the more traditional art style over there.

most people are money minded now. you either wany to become an engineer or a doctor when you grow up. this is true for a good 80% of the kids. fueled by many things but at the moment the media highlights xyz college grad just got an offer of gaziillion rupees on front pages etc
some of them become a chartered accountant or a company secretary, these are the kids who couldn't get into STEM but are generally intelligent.
and the rest of them who couldn't achieve that are still as much money minded. the individuality and the pursuit of self fulfilling goals and non-political conservation / appreciation of the country is all but lost. only real life losers go to arts. no wonder we have lost it all. and i don't know what's the way out. i for example am an engineer myself. as are most of the folks here i imagine.
a lot of us lacked money growing up so i don't blame anyone for following that path tbqh. i just hope things will change for the better down the line.
<tldr: number in bank account go up is the only measure of success. nobody cares about being an artist anymore.

>only real life losers go to arts. no wonder we have lost it all
That doesn't seem to be the case with classical music. Or at least I have the impression that the pandits are still respected. But it does seem like visual art and sculpting have become just blue collar mass production jobs.

actually yes. music is the last bastion where my argument doesn't necessarily apply. really only passionate people go that route regardless of money.
but my overall point about arts on the whole still holds.
