Tbh, if any of the people from our "vedic past" were alive, they would gravitate towards the high status things of today. They had to learn and rote vedas because that was all they had, it was knowledge, but we have much better now.
Pre-vedists or Rig-vedists would also, probably leave India, since their view of meat-eating and worship or gods is totally different from Puranic hindus, and the modern day hindu is just an amalgamation of whatever propaganda was spread by their community in the 1900's.
I also imagine that Rig-vedists would be, more so fascinated by sailing and martime tech, they would genuinely love the idea of sailing to go anywhere in the world and would def change rulings regarding crossing the sea.
I can already see the vedists colonizing the deep corzet islands.
