They do have rajputs like dogra, katoch, ranas, negis etc. Kangana ranaut is herself a rajput. Not all rajputs are from rajasthan. Thakurs/lords existed in other states as well.

I was under the impression dogras live in J&K, pathankot etc.
>katoch
dont these guys live in Kangra? is that considered pahad
>Ranas, negis
strange, I know a guy who is Brahmin from HP who vehemently denies there being any Rajputs in HP/UK. Apparently there are a few who used to be independent chieftains but the vast majority of people with Thakur surnames are tribes who adopted it. How true is this?

>Kangra is that considered pahad?
Yes it is. It is part of HP. Kings of those regions were referred to as 'pahadi rajas' in sikh historical texts. Tho it is context dependent and relative some people use pahadi for only higher hills.
>Apparently there are a few who used to be independent chieftains but the vast majority of people with Thakur surnames are tribes who adopted it How true is this?
Thats likely true. Many were native thakurs, ranas and rajas. Pahadi titles like 'ranas' 'thakur' 'chettri' 'rawat' etc. are native and very ancient. Those are sanskrit titles. They likely didnt address themselves with the specific term 'rajput' originally like they do today. That may have been a recent cultural phenomenon but then again the process of 'rajputisation' itself applies to everyone. Pretty much all rajputs outside of og rajputana likely adopted the title much later and were only known as thakurs earlier.
