East asians were shorter than us some decade ago but as they developed economically they grew taller. Indians who emigrate to the US their kids are taller.

There is a genetic ceiling tho. Pygmies and negritos would always be midgets. Mongols would always be relatively short and wider as they have stockier builds rather than gracile builds. Indians tho would likely hit the european average of 5'10 given the current trends and as indicated by historical foreign travellers who commented on impressive statures of indians. Skeletons of ivc and aasi also indicate good genetic potential.

Its just random evolution. All races adapted to their environments but differently because they responded differently. There is no hard and fast rule.
