We do have the necessary educational institutions to beat shitholes like vietnam that is only 10-15% of our cunt's population, or even smaller, but we seem to lack the will to do the needful at this point and are very much eager in squandering away the demographic gift that we possess right now. Just imagine how our nation would look like if every bimaru teacher, researcher, student became a sincere, studious, hard working engineer, doctor, lawyer, neta, etc.. The sky is the literally the limit. We would see an overnight crash in randidom, corruption, uncleanliness, dehatism, etc..

japan had about the same tfr and per capita as us in 1972. China is poorer than japan but has a much much lower tfr. Both are respectable places. I don't think either squandered their dividends.
You can only have the past as reference and indians are scarred by incredible poverty which feeds into this, hopelesness. I do believe the country over-performs for the corruption it has or how its governed. I have faith in indians, our(every one on this board's) ancestors were impoverished farmers I don't see how education can't have a civilising effect on the dehat, and the dehat is very misunderstood, seen as a problem to get rid off and not corrected. My maid's illiterate, but her children aren't. Her daughter is a real estate agent and with and her brother's wages they have an air-conditioner in their house! I still have hope for this nation. Its burgeoning middle class has high aspirations for it, there have been discussions about urbanism and industry amongst my generation which were unheard of just even half-a-decade ago.
Time will tell.
