Interesting observation.

/etc/netplan/

What does it say here? Static IP or DHCP/Dynamic IP?

Don't leak your personal details.

may be the router is treating your linux and windows as two different device

but I don't think its possible if you have dual booted

since both the operating system is sharing the same network interface card

basically the router maps

mac address with ip address

in the local network

mac address will be same in both the operating system

Maybe the Ubuntu config has a reserved Mac address?

okay tell me one thing

do you use bharatchan on incognito mode on windows and linux

also execute these command and verify if the ip is same in both the cases

for linux :

ip a

for windows :

ipconfig /all

ARYA

no bro ip address can't be reserved its unique for each devices connected to the internet

for each device there is single mac address

although some operating system like Tail OS can spoof mac address

no, i use it on firefox on both

will check for windows, somewhat before sleeping.

okay

so it might be because there are two different cookies stored for you

so there is a cookie "connect.sid" in bharatchan

which is used to verify users

if its different on both linux and windows

then it will treat it as 2 different users

hence 2 different ids will be shown

hello anon, unemployed coderjeet here - the bharatchan server receives your PUBLIC IP and your user agent when you make a post. check your PUBLIC IP at https://whatismyipaddress.com

it DOES NOT receive your mac address or local ip or any other bullshit posted by the other anons.

you are probably behind CGNAT because indian isps want to cuck you. so restarting your router usually won't change your PUBLIC IP

yeah and it probably stores some session cookies i won't waste my time looking around. ask dayush

abe ghochu

router uses mac address to assign ip address to devices

bharatchan doesn't use mac address but your router does

did I ever said that ip address get sent to bharatchan?

Forget about anything else above, I figured it out.

When you use windows, the ipv4 IP is being prioritized, due to it being an older system, there are lesser no. of total IPv4 addresses in the world. Thus a different one is assigned every time you restart your router.

Linux is prioritizing the ipv6 IP address(which should happen anyways), due to basically a never ending no. of ipv6 addresses, the jio/airtel/whatever router you uses sticks to the same one regardless of it being restarted.

all you anons know a lot,i am genuinely surprised. i sometimes wonder whether i will get a job with my current knowledge.

And yeah, you get both ones(unless you manually disable one) each time, but sites only need one to function so it is upto the browser which one to send, in one connection only one can be sent anyways but it is possible to request for both (for example when you go to whatismyip, etc).

Ipv6 is supposed to be prioritized anyways because it is faster due to more efficient packets but windows is doing some retardation.
