the whole coaching industry was a scam from the start, truth is JEE is meant for certain class of students to which vast majority simply do not belong, covid and cheap internet finally ended the whole coaching industrial complex, there was a time when all these so called "star" teachers would arrive in their BMWs, today they have all been rendered into shitty youtubers with extra steps.
They created this whole myth of JEE preparation, one thing I can tell atleast for math and physics, the syllabus is not that complex, all you need is certain books, apart from this all that matters is your own capability - intelligence and hard work.

Engineering Education at IITs is sub par at best, nothing special, infact it is a extension of the whole JEE coaching meme itself, suddenly everyone is grinding leetcode and CP instead of JEE mcqs, students at IIT are given jobs not for their engineering skills or knowledge but for their grinding capability.
In Early days of IITs, things were different, the institute was competitive on international scale, tbe entrance exam was subjective and english was a compulsory subject, they were actually producing skilled Engineers at that time, but after 80s the decline started.
IITs today are like a cram school for CS bhangis, infact IITs should close all other branches and increase CS seats.
But I guess it is too late as the whole webshit meme is on deathbed itself.

not only that, truth is number of students coming to kota was already declining, and apart from this popularity of Engineering and JEE itself peaked in early 2010s, in 2000s no matter which branch, you would get a Job in ITeS mass hiring, this is no longer the case, it has become extremely hard, if you check statistics, many private Engieering colleges have closed down due to low enrollment, some of them played it intelligently buy increasing seats in CS and other related branches - IT, Data Science etc etc, and closing core branches, this allowed them to do business, however this also led to many students skipping JEE Advanced and getting admissions into these colleges with their Mains score because end of the day with enough leetcode grind you would end up with some webshit Job at some services company.
However ever since covid this whole system has crashed because Jobs are scarce specially at the lower levels, placements at Tier-2/3 colleges have crashed, even at IITs 10-20% decline.
As a result, JEE is no longer that popular, these coaching centers had taken lots of debts to expand their businesses, but it all came crashing down on them

In kota, the primary feature of all these coaching centers was the batch system, initially they would distribute students based on their class 10th and entrance test results (it was mostly random), after 2 review tests proper batches were established, the top teachers would only teach in top batches, this made sense with the offline class room.based teaching.
However with internet, and with cheap online classes, the whole selling point became the teacher instead of the coaching, now that hefty class room course fees could not be extracted from students, the batch system became pointless from business pov, now courses of best teachers were selling at low proces for all students, this is the real cause of decline.
Your average poorfag student from UP/Bihar dehat no longer needed to move to kota and compete for top batch, to access lmtpp teachers.
