That doesn't make any sense either. It was likely done to give people the fear of possible consequences of their actions. In presense of laws that becomes invalid. In the end it is just different flavours of cope. For example the day of judgment also implies Jesus Christ will come back, and fight anti christ who will perform false miracles.
