I don't regret it. Even if taking CS means getting higher salary, writing software is not what I want to spend the better part of my life doing. I'd rather do something meaningful, which is why i'm in electrical engineering

some MechE and most ChemE jobs can be cut by robotics and optimisation respectively. But do you really think they are ever going to need fewer hardware engineers? AMD/Nvidia have never been larger

Most ITcoolies don't earn that much imo. That sub is just a bragging ground for those who earn well. You should also see the number of guys who post there about not getting jobs even after 1000s of applications and hundreds of DSA problems solved.
