Reminder once again that major cause of misery for every indians which they face on day to day basis is directly related to the failures of our lowest level of government which nobody cares about.

All major issues,

>lack of greenary

>dissmisal state of the public services

>improper waste management

>unplanned cities

>improper public infra - roads, sidewalks, etc.

>hawkers

>in general unplanned and un organized state of cities, low quality food being sold, etc. etc.

>even public schools

all these have direct association with this.

How your neighborhood looks or is maintained by your ward elects but somehow these are the ones ignored completely.

Join >>>/infra/ and we gotta to wordcel into finding ways - follow good things being implemented and bad things which are present and need solution.

Indian cities are a meme, aside from certain princely state capitals from the Raj Era, none of the other have any features that could qualify them as cities.

Most of these "cities" are just extended slums and encroachments.

Truth is there is no functional government at local level, nobody cares about it, the municipalities have no money, they simple follow whatever order comes form le "upar".

there is no ecosystem overall, for example there is no concept of urban planning in indian cities, there is no department or officials for that in any city.

It's not just money issue desu. If money is the sole reason then BMC leaving most of mumbai in utter shitholeness won't happen.

There are enough rich cities yet the basic waste management is not happening. Hawkers etc.

One city which has been trying a lot was Indore.

BMC having relatively more money than small towns is irrelevant.

yaaar we need to re-orient focus of the public from meme tier union elections to these.

It's pretty easy to influence and create reforms at this level. Interestingly neither BJP nor INC or any serious big party cares about these.

There's libertarian party which kinda mentioned about it, they want more de-centralization and power for mayors but that is setup for failure unless we somehow standardize and reform these places.

There is a reason cricket and movie "stars" are worshiped here, only the top matters, PM, CM, IAS, IIT etc etc - you see, it's the same everywhere.

Nobody wants to lay the foundations or work on fundamentals, the ideology of gibs and reservation is consequence of this attitude - people in India don't believe in delayed gratification.

Chicken egg situation, most people will see a pile of garbage and their instinct would be to throw the garbage there - days upon days that tiny pit of garbage turns entire area into shithole. Until one day few people decide that it doesn't have to be that way.

First they try to talk out, doesn't work then they work and remove entire heap of garbage, new setup of installed with the system of garbage bins and slowly people seeing this change this behaviour.

I have seen similar stuff in my time. Need something at larger scale.

Yes you are right bout the newly rising middle class too in a way but we are reaching at a critical point that this middle class matters - on social media it can influence policies and most of the populace involved in the ward election types is linked pretty nicely via sm etc. and are tech savvy they are the people who are 'fool'.

As a country we do a lot of things which only few countries can do. But since our lowest level of governance is bad it pretty much destorys whatever good is being done at larger scale since at the end people relate to the things on day to day experience/encounters.

The problem could have been avoided if people just did not mindlessly following another, its like saying just because one person shits on a street it become a designated shitting street, see how fucked up that sounds right? throwing garbage at a place just because another did is a micro example of that, one thing I have noticed is that indians always seem to be in a hurry, like we are hurried to get there so we will break traffic rules or we are hurried to get this trash off me so I will just throw it anywhere, Without understanding the greater implications of such

Now some people cope by saying that we dont have enough trash cans, but even this is not true or a necessity, in most cities even in west you can't find trash can in every 100 m radius, the simplest way of this would be that the person is aware enough to keep the trash with him and then throw it whenever he finds a trash can or just at home

We don't care for individualism/individual freedoms that much over communal harmony and don't distrust the gubmint that much to make it 'small'.

Genuinely this, people are so emotional over their state or even country but forget that most important part of their 'desha' which is their district or city.

Imagine not wanting a community center for your district, a good part, a good public infra for swimming pool, lakes etc. The re-orientation regarding these need to happen.

Our middle class is the most aspirational class and it wants better cities and infra within the city, services - it can pay taxes, it can for certain control the narrative on social media to influence politicians and this is where our focus should be.

Reorient public discussion from meme nation level to district level, public services at city level. Every day there should be trend about bad things are, while appreciating good things which are happening and pushing for the standardization of these things.
