bca/bsc cs guys aren't eligible for gate cs/da unless they have an mca/msc cs. and we can only give iit jam/cat other than nimcet/cuetpg mca/other mca entrances

>janaab jaabs ka kya haalchalba?
jobs are still happening and only the guys with good skill set/cgpa can get one
>how many direct college palcements habbenings ?
it's really hard for bca guys to get a job just after doing bca, that's why most people prepare for nimcet and try to go for mca at nits and cuet pg mca for top cent unis
>what about mca guys?
bca + mca = btech cse in the indian it job market, so obv they can also get a job on par with btech cse student and can also give exams like tcs nqt and other gormint ones
>do tcs an stuff still recruit from bca like they used to in a lower package than btech or is even that gone?
yes, bca/bsc guys can only get hired through tcs ignite and smart hiring but that is a really long process with bonds and very low pay grade (it's not worth it so to speak, and it's better to go for mca at nits/top central unis if you're getting one since their placement records is really good)

what about that tcs ignite type of thing that pays 15k or 12k back in da day. do you have contacts with someone going through that? has their salary changed? were they able to move on through promotions or hop into other companies or did they have to take a leave for higher studies too?
Were you made aware about about the bca + mca = btech thing after joining? Orelse why did you continue with bca after knowing about it instead of just joinging a pvt btech kallej?
Is your BCA a 4 year program now like BA or BCOM? I mean why are most people in bca continuing bca despite knowing about it? why are fresh students even doing bca now?
Guess it is the same with BA and BCOM too but maybe you will be elligible for bank SO IT related posts after mca and others accept bca too (you would need to check yourself tho not sure) so that is better than ba or bsc or bcom in that respect.
What you said is what I heard a decade ago from friends who heard them from their tuition teachers or college faculty but I never grasped why is it they were continuing with it. Well even I am no better.

tcs smart pays around 15k/month (1.8–1.9 lpa) and tcs ignite pays about 23k/month (ignite: 2.6–2.8 lpa) for bca/bsc grads under this hiring. no, i don’t have any contacts, but some of my seniors from amity online got in through tcs smart hiring and are doing mca side by side, which tcs provides in collaboration with a pvt uni (refs: https://www.tcs.com/careers/india/tcs-bsc-ignite-smart-hiring-2024-2025 & https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/gfg-academy/tata-consultancy-services-ignite-program/). yeah, there’s a way to switch from this role to tcs digital or other better positions by clearing internal exams like this: https://cyberbyte.medium.com/my-tcs-elevate-wings-1-dca-experience-7ce981cfe79b
>Were you made aware about about the bca + mca = btech thing after joining? Orelse why did you continue with bca after knowing about it instead of just joinging a pvt btech kallej?
no, i found out about all this on my own or through my batchmates/seniors while searching for jobs and stuff. i had taken a drop for jee but still couldn’t clear it, and by then i was already 18. pvt clgs were way out of my budget, and since my score wasn’t even decent, i ended up joining this t-t. later i got to know that if i do mca from a good clg (like top nits/cent unis), it won’t really be a problem. rn i’m preparing for nimcet/cuet pg mca and upskilling side by side
>Is your BCA a 4 year program now like BA or BCOM? I mean why are most people in bca continuing bca despite knowing about it? why are fresh students even doing bca now?
no, it’s 3 years like any other arts/com degree. but bca (hons) is 4 years and idk why people even go for that unless they’re planning for masters abroad, since you won’t be eligible for gate cs/da anyway. afaik, bca is a good option for people who didn’t have science in 12th and still want to work in a technical/it field, since even commerce/arts students can do bca
>Guess it is the same with BA and BCOM too but maybe you will be elligible for bank SO IT related posts after mca and others accept bca too (you would need to check yourself tho not sure) so that is better than ba or bsc or bcom in that respect.
yes, also if you get into a top nit for mca and actually grind hard for placements, you can end up in a far better position to what an avg mca or a btech cse grad from a pvt/tier 3 clg gets
>What you said is what I heard a decade ago from friends who heard them from their tuition teachers or college faculty but I never grasped why is it they were continuing with it. Well even I am no better.

what other options do we even have other than this? xD
i just hope bca grads become eligible for gate cse/da and other exams like that in the future or at least sometime soon, because bca is almost the same as btech cse, just without those mechanical/core science subjects

we can appear for the gate cse/da exam, but we'll need to complete mca for mtech admission, since most/all iits/nits require a postgraduate degree like mca. the good thing is that gate scores are valid for 3 years, and mca usually takes 2–3 years. yes, we can also take the cat exam and apply to b-schools, but getting into the iims for an mca as an distance bca student would be extremely difficult
