I do enjoy playing for hours once i get into - i have done that with assassin's creed odyssey, gta series, witcher 3, terraria, stardew valley, online player game like apex legend so on, sometimes city building or simulators too. Most of them fall off because i can no longer spend time on them.
So here i am desu.
I really enjoy tower defense when i played some tower defense type game on smartphone.
So suggestions based on this state.

Wilds is a movie game

Monster hunter was a single player(coop) mmo where you farm items, select monster from a quest board, hunt cool ass monsters, turn their parts into cool looking weapons and armor so you can slay the next big thing and repeat
They turned wilds into w sony movieslop and made it 10 times more casual
Buy world(not my favourite), its the perfect mh game for new hunters

I usually prefer my hack and slash to me violet and brutal. I remember their was this one game that felt like a darker version of top up view pixel style hack and slash, like zelda. Fucking loved that game.

For re i recommend start with 4(not demake) and 5(its way better with a friend) if your want a balanced experience
1 remake 2(og) 3(og) are more into horror and have metroidvania like level design
6 is to action focused and have tons of boring qte
7 was a good modern horror shooter
8 was alright
I don't enjoy remake ones(except for re1)

And anything from the '00s and early-mid '10s really. Get what you like and play them instead of putting hours into something that you are barely interested in. It will feel like a waste of time at the end even if it is good.
Maybe the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games could work too but not the dogshit enhanced re-releases that are on Steam now
