All of these before 1967:
TN had a literacy rate of 50% when Bimaru had 20%.
TN health care ecosystem has been in place for centuries.
TN had a well laid road network and rolling stocks of public transport exponentially than Bimaru.
TN had more industries in kongu and chennai than all of Bimaru.
Of course we had coastal advantage and FEP.

There is no relation between the two. Madras rebelled way before 1857 (Look up Vellore Mutiny). India's earliest conflicts against the Brits were Tamils - Alagu muthukon, Puli thevar, Kattabomman.
Most of the foundational investments in south took place in late 19th century and early 20th century. Mughal-ravaged bimarus were already backward.
