Nitish Kumar has been switching between NDA and Mahagathbandhan to stay in power as Chief Minister.
So if BJP loses 3-4 seats in the election due to anti-incumbency and the opposition's "Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod" narrative, it's over for the Modi government.

If you think this cannot happen, then again, refer to how Chaudhary Charan Singh collapsed the post-Emergency Janata government in 1979.
Alternatively, the opposition could offer Eknath Shinde (who has 7 seats) the Chief Ministership of Maharashtra and Chirag Paswan (who has 5 seats) one of the Four Big ministries' portfolios at the center.
