In padmavat, Khilji basically married what was his cousin, however that is not really the taboo given the societal norms at the time in context. Japanese literature covers this stuff frequently, the best one would probably be Koi Kaze, that actually takes it like a taboo, exploring mental unwellness of both parties rather than fetishising it.

Man wtf the only reason this got allowed was because japs have a low age of consent. In reality this seems in many ways an endorsement of grooming in any part of the world.

I would feel the same was it not the fact that MC tries his best to avoid this situation and it is just overall unfortunate. I think the core focus here was despite the age gap, which would normally prevent attraction in such manner, both turned out this way
