In the company I work for, I occasionally have to travel. I always calculated my fuel expenses @₹5/KM even though the HR said that I could only ask for @₹3.5/KM as per company policy. My activa is too old and khatara.
I ignored the HR and kept sending my travel expenses spreadsheet @₹5/KM to my reporting officer. My reporting officer understood my situation that my old khatara activa consumes too much fuel and kept approving all my requests @₹5/KM and I kept getting the fuel expenses calculated at my demanded price. Then one day the HR raised her objection and told the company's director about this. The director reprimanded my reporting officer for approving my travel expenses @₹5/KM.
Then the director said that if I have problem with the company's provided fuel rate, I can just use a cab instead. So that's what I did! Now I exclusively travel by cab at a much higher rate.
And this is the result. Instead of giving me ₹75 @₹5/KM for 15.3 KM, the company is willing to give me ₹377 for ola/uber.
I still can't wrap my head around this.

They just care about SOP rather than efficiency. Unless, it's forwarded to roastie and reporting officer by person incharge of overlooking opex. It's not their money
